Prof. Dr. Matthias Johannes Bauer is a communication scholar specialising in festivals and cultural events. As festival professor, he teaches and conducts research at IST University of Applied Sciences on sustainability, audience expectations, awareness strategies at festivals, and the professionalization of the live events sector – always at the intersection of theory, practice, and social responsibility. He advises festivals, institutions, and public bodies, and serves on the Professorial Board of the CEF, Cambridge, and as a jury member for the German HELGA! Festival Award.
