Bert Hauspie is affiliated as a researcher within the Substance Use and Psychosocial Risk Behaviours (SUPRB) Research Centre at HOGENT University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Ghent, Belgium. In the past, he was involved for eight years as a field worker for two different peer support and harm reduction projects, including Safe 'n Sound. Gradually, he moved towards the academic field, where his research primarily focuses on safer nightlife and substance use, with a special emphasis on prevention, harm reduction, and peer support. However, he maintains his connection with fieldwork related to safer nightlife as a steering committee member of Safe 'n Sound. Bert is currently involved in a research project called ‘Care Teams by Night’, where he is researching the role of care teams in the context of safer nightlife.
