Spiking, Sexualised Violence and the Fear of going out

From twilight to clear advice

Culture Health & Prevention

Presented by

SONICS e.V.

In the course of raising awareness in society as a whole, but also through specific awareness projects and measures, assault and sexualised violence have increasingly become the focus of event organisers and harm reduction projects. The growing spread of G (GHB/GBL) as well as waves of reports of (needle) spiking are causing uncertainty among partygoers and staff. However, reliable figures are rare.

What do we observe and know about spiking and sexualised violence in nightlife? How should those affected be supported - what is best practice, what are no-gos? How can clubs sustainably deal with the fear of spiking and feelings of insecurity of their guests?
