In the USA, the entire civil society is currently being reorganised under Trump. The culture war is being waged against everything ‘woke’. In Italy, the ruling party Fratelli d'Italia seems to have shed its post-fascist attitude, at least in public, and is taking a moderate stance. The situation is different in cultural institutions, where there is a relatively strict push for an ‘identitarian orientation’. The Netherlands also moved to the right in 2023, with the government collapsing after just under a year. The result: stagnation.
The rule of law, separation of powers and protection against state arbitrariness - according to the "Atlas of Civil Society", these areas are under threat or no longer exist in more and more countries. We want to find out in an international setting: What happens to independent music culture when right-wing nationalist or post-fascist forces gain influence? In this panel discussion, we will take a critical look at developments in countries such as Italy, the Netherlands and the USA - and what these could mean for the club and festival scene in Germany if the democratic parties are unable to prevent the AfD from gaining further strength
We will analyze this with live culture actors:
- What effects authoritarian cultural policy is already having today (censorship, funding cuts, arbitrary behavior by authorities).
- How the independent scene organizes, protects and resists.
- What we in Germany can learn from the experiences of other countries.

In den USA wird aktuell die gesamte Zivilgesellschaft unter Trump umgebaut. Der Kulturkampf wird gegen alles „woke“ geführt. In Italien scheint die Regierungspartei Fratelli d’Italia ihre postfaschistische Gesinnung, jedenfalls in der Öffentlichkeit abgelegt zu haben und tritt moderat auf. Anders in Kulturinstitutionen, wo relativ strikt auf die „identitäre Ausrichtung“ gedrängt wird. Auch die Niederlande sind 2023 nach rechts gerückt, wobei bereits nach knapp einem Jahr die Regierung zerbrochen ist. Das Ergebnis: Stillstand.
Ob Rechtsstaatlichkeit, Gewaltenteilung und Schutz vor staatlicher Willkür - laut des "Atlas der Zivilgesellschaft", sind diese Bereiche in immer mehr Ländern bedroht oder gar nicht mehr vorhanden. Wir wollen mit internationalem Setting wissen: Was passiert mit unabhängiger Musikkultur, wenn rechtsnationale oder postfaschistische Kräfte an Einfluss gewinnen? In dieser Diskussionsrunde werfen wir einen kritischen Blick auf die Entwicklungen in Ländern wie Italien, den Niederlanden und den USA – und was diese für die Club- und Festival-Szene in Deutschland bedeuten könnten, sollte die demokratischen Parteien ein weiteres Erstarken der AfD nicht verhindern können

- Welche Auswirkungen autoritäre Kulturpolitik bereits heute hat (Zensur, Förderkürzungen, Behördenwillkür)
- Wie sich die freie Szene organisiert, schützt und Widerstand leistet.
- Was wir in Deutschland aus den Erfahrungen anderer Länder lernen können.
