About

Alexander Bücheli was responsible for the city's nightlife prevention program saferparty.ch from 2001 to 2015. During this time, he played a key role in establishing mobile drug checking and developing the Drug Information Center (DIZ). He is a co-founder of the Safer Clubbing Switzerland association and the Bar & Club Commission Zurich. Since 2015, he has worked as a freelance consultant for the Safer Dance Swiss, Safer Nightlife Switzerland, and Safer Clubbing Switzerland networks, as well as a lobbyist for the Bar & Club Commission Zurich, the Swiss Bar and Club Commission, and PromoterSuisse. Additionally, Alexander Bücheli co-curates the NIGHTS – Stadt nach Acht conference and Zurich Music Week (ZMW), serves on the board of the European Nightlife Empowerment & Well-being – NewNet network, initiated the IG Zürcher Gastfreundschaft, and contributed to the 2023 Night Economy Study conducted in Stuttgart.

In this panel, you can explore case studies, one from Gabija Liaugminaitė from Vilnius Night office about night culture, noise and harm reduction in the capital of Lithuania. A second one comes from Zagreb by Anja Wertag, presenting the study “Night life of a city: An in situ pilot study of behavioral patterns of nightclub patrons in Zagreb”. A third case study comes from Natali Mets, nighttime advisor for the City of Tallinn, speaking about the nighttime strategy of the city with special focus on policy making, safety measures and transportation.
