Marco Buemi

About

Marco Buemi has worked more than 20 years with urban sustainable development and social inclusion issues with a specific approach to participative design and management in disadvantaged urban neighbourhoods and abandoned areas. He started in 2003 for the Swedish Ministry for Integration and Social Inclusion and since 2005 he works for the Ministry for Equal Opportunities with gender and disadvantaged groups issues. Since 2017 he is a Lead Expert for URBACT programme, where he worked as expert with several European cities to foster innovative approaches to societal challenges and strive for inclusive local policies with active community involvement. In 2018 he was Project Manager for the City of Turin and Rome for the identification of urban and territorial requalification interventions, housing and social inclusion of disadvantaged target groups. Since 2023 he is the project coordinator of Re-Gen co-financed by Urbact. He is a Lecturer in the Venice International University
