Robert Gaa took a few detours before finally becoming Mannheim's second Night Mayor and thus ending up in the cultural sector from a professional point of view. He is actually a state-certified mechanical engineer, but alongside his professional activities, he was heavily involved in the Mannheim art and culture association peer23. This led to a growing desire within him to not only help shape cultural life in Mannheim in his free time, but also to leave his mark professionally. He has been Night Mayor of Mannheim since 2021 and has contributed significantly to the founding of the IG Nacht Konsil, an association of all night mayors in Germany. Since its founding in 2022, he has been one of three spokespersons. Since 2022, he has been a member of the board of Clubkultur Baden-Württemberg, representing the interests of club culture at the state level. He is also active as a DJ and event organiser.
