Laura Young is the Purple Flag & Policy Lead at the Association of Town & City Management (ATCM), a not-for-profit membership body representing placemakers across the UK and Ireland. She leads the Purple Flag accreditation programme, which celebrates towns and cities worldwide that demonstrate excellence in creating safe, inclusive, and vibrant evening and night-time economies. In this role, Laura works closely with destinations, assessors, and the Purple Flag Panel to uphold high standards and share best practice. With an academic background in Criminology and Public Policy Research, she brings expertise in areas such as women’s safety and evidence-based policymaking, helping to shape and strengthen the accreditation to reflect the evolving needs of towns and cities.
